From the stunning agave fields where much of the country’s mezcal is produced to the vibrant artisan markets, Oaxaca bursts with inspiration, flavor, color, tradition and warmth. I’ve been to Oaxaca more times than I can count over the last 6/7 years. It’s one of my favorite places in all of Mexico. My best friend, Hannah, has been living there for about 11 years now, and she has taken me to so many special places and introduced me to so many wonderful local people. We are about to lead our 4th weeklong curated experience there this week!
So in honor of our last trip of 2023, for those of you who couldn’t join us, here is a semi-short guide to Oaxaca featuring 30 of my favorite places to stay, eat, drink, see and shop. This list focuses on places in Oaxaca City, though the entire region is rich with places to visit. I’ll be sharing more Oaxaca content and guides over the coming months, so stay tuned!
