I never grew up liking nut butter. Probably because the only option that was presented to me was peanut butter (which I still mostly don’t care for unless it’s made into spicy peanut sauce). All the kids at school would bring PB+J sandwiches (also didn’t like sandwiches as a kid). And guess what I requested for my brown bag lunch? Dannon coffee yogurt. Very odd for a child of 5 years old, but nonetheless, I loved it and my mom packed it for me. In kindergarten, in the school cafeteria one day, I got made fun of for bringing it to lunch. From that point on, I would conceal it in my brown-bag lunch, sneak it to the bathroom stall and eat it alone so no one would see me. There was no stopping me from eating my beloved coffee yogurt. And I wouldn’t eat a PB+J sandwich no matter how ‘cool’ it made me look.
All’s that to say, I didn’t really even start eating or buying nut butter until way later in life. I’m trying to remember, but I feel like it wasn’t until my later 20s in all honesty. And even then, almond butter was just sort of whatever to me. It wasn’t until I tried Ground Up’s Chunky Almond, Cashew + Coconut Butter (use code WUHAUS for 15% off anything in their shop) that I really started to love nut butter. And I mean really love it. Like it became ridiculous how much of that nut butter I was consuming. I finally connected with the owners and they started delivering it to my house in a giant tub every few weeks.
